Is TopMark worth considering for your business?

Our assessment: TopMark is relevant to compare for a commercial truck, trailer or heavy-equipment purchase where access to different funding programs may help. Before paying an upfront amount, establish the actual creditor, total scheduled cost and written cancellation/refund terms. Its public starting rates and program limits differ across pages; the proposed agreement should resolve those differences for your transaction.

What favorable feedback discusses

Visible Trustpilot reviews praise responsive representatives, communication and help completing truck purchases. These accounts describe individual experiences; they do not establish the rate, approval or service a new applicant will receive.

What unfavorable feedback raises

BBB reviews and complaint narratives raise questions about upfront charges, refunds, cancellation, final financing terms and payoff expectations. TopMark disputes some accounts and refers to signed documents. Read both sides and the outcome.

How to use these reviews before applying

Look for situations resembling your purchase: a startup truck buyer, a used asset, a delayed delivery or a transaction that never closed. Separate comments about an individual salesperson from the legal creditor’s contract and servicing. Use recurring questions to improve your written quote request rather than treating a rating as an approval prediction.

The supplied October 16 research contained an older Google snapshot. It is not relabeled as a current independently verified score. Do not add review counts across platforms; the same customer may appear in more than one place.

BBB states that customer reviews do not determine its letter grade. An A+ grade and low customer stars can therefore appear together. Accreditation is a private BBB status, not government approval of a financing product.

“Answered” and “resolved” are separate statuses. Complaint counts alone do not establish a complaint rate because the number of underlying transactions is not supplied here. The linked record and the business’s responses provide more context than a total.

The contract issue to investigate

A June 2026 complaint describes a dispute over money retained after a proposed financing did not close. TopMark’s response relies on a signed Letter of Intent and its cancellation/refund language. This is a customer allegation and a company response, not a finding of wrongdoing. It makes the timing and refundability of each upfront charge a useful question before committing.

See the refund, cancellation and early-payoff checklist.

Is TopMark Funding legit or legitimate?

Public records and company disclosures support that TopMark Funding is an established operating financing business. BBB identifies TopMark Funding, LLC and lists its start and incorporation date as January 13, 2015. That supports business identity; it does not establish that every offer is affordable or suitable.

Sources: BBB: TopMark business profile.

Is TopMark a direct lender or a broker?

Its FAQ describes TopMark as a financial-services company and third-party originator rather than a direct lender. The dealer page describes both broker relationships and transactions funded through bank lines, with TopMark handling underwriting and documents. Broker/originator is the most useful general classification; the company named as lender, lessor or assignee in your agreement determines the role for your transaction.

Sources: TopMark: financing FAQ · TopMark: dealer program and broker disclosures.

Who is behind TopMark?

Rapid Investments’ leadership page connects TopMark with Dan Summers and Evan Lang, describes its 2015 spin-off from Go Capital as an equipment-lease brokerage, and identifies it as a portfolio holding. This is a company-published history, not verification of current ownership percentages.

Business identity and licensing references

BBB lists California DFPI license number 60DBO-56572 and NMLS number 2320837. These are BBB-listed identifiers; current regulator status and authority for a particular transaction were not independently established in this profile. Match the legal entity and applicable state authorization before relying on a license reference.

TopMark Funding rates, fees and total financing cost

TopMark publishes several starting-rate figures, but no single verified rate range applies to every transaction. The following are separate company statements. They should not be combined into a promised APR range.

TopMark rate statements checked October 21, 2026; request a dated, transaction-specific written quote.
Official sourcePublished statementHow to use it
July 24, 2026 credit guideRates starting at 6.5% for well-qualified applicants. SourceA starting-rate claim; the quoted wording does not establish an all-in APR for your offer.
General financing FAQStrong-applicant rates described as starting around 4.9%–6.9%. SourceThe figures describe starting pricing, not a ceiling on what applicants pay.
Website termsAPR starting at 4.99%, subject to approved credit. SourceThis page explicitly uses APR, but does not establish eligibility or availability for your requested program.

Ask which published offer is available for your equipment, credit profile and term. Compare the same amount, payment timing and ownership outcome. Do not substitute a lease payment factor or a verbal estimate for the complete cost of the written agreement.

What fees and upfront payments should you ask about?

Fee questions for an equipment quote; unknown items are not presented as universal TopMark charges.
ItemWhat is established / what to request
Equipment cash at signingThe FAQ describes options starting with one payment upfront. Zero-down advertising does not settle whether fees or advance installments are due. Equipment FAQ
Documentation feeThe FAQ’s $795 and up statement applies to most unsecured business loans. It is not a universal equipment-financing fee. Fee context
Equipment fee scheduleA standardized schedule covering every equipment program was not established. Request documentation, broker, origination, title, filing and closing charges, including who receives each amount.
Late payment / prepaymentThe website terms allow late fees and say some agreements may contain prepayment penalties. Obtain the actual schedule and payoff calculation. Terms
Deposit / advance installmentsIdentify whether each payment reduces the purchase price, counts toward scheduled installments, is held as a deposit or is an earned fee.
Ownership / insurance / taxesAsk what purchase option, residual, insurance, taxes or other charges are excluded from the quoted monthly payment.

Get the cancellation terms before paying

Request the complete Letter of Intent and the fee/refund provisions before authorizing a card charge or transfer. Ask what happens if the lender changes the terms, the equipment fails inspection, the seller cannot deliver or you decline to proceed.

Illustration: compare scheduled dollars, not only the payment

For a hypothetical $100,000 equipment purchase, 60 payments of $2,200 total $132,000. A separate $1,000 fee and $100 purchase option bring the scheduled cash outlay to $133,100, before any excluded taxes or insurance. If two of those 60 installments are paid upfront, count them once—not again as extra installments.

This is arithmetic for comparing quotes, not TopMark pricing, an APR calculation or a prediction of approval.

TopMark Funding requirements: credit score, startups and revenue

TopMark’s July 2026 guidance describes preferred borrower characteristics and possible exceptions. It does not establish automatic approval when a borrower reaches a score or operating-history threshold.

Summary of TopMark’s equipment qualification guidance; individual underwriting applies.
Qualification topicPublished equipment guidance / next question
Personal credit650+ generally provides stronger options; 680+ is described as a stronger profile.
Time in businessTwo years preferred. Some startups can be considered.
Startup applicationsPersonal credit, industry experience, available cash, down payment and the proposed equipment matter.
Below 650 creditNot automatically excluded; additional documentation, more cash down, collateral or a co-signer may be needed.
Financial conditionExisting debt, cash flow, payment history and recent credit problems can affect the decision.
Equipment useCommercial use; personal-use vehicles, RVs and consumer equipment are outside the stated focus.
Equipment revenue minimumNo universal numerical revenue minimum was established for all equipment programs. Ask for the selected lender’s standard.

Sources: TopMark: July 2026 credit and eligibility guidance.

Startup and challenged-credit applicants: make the request specific

Prepare an explanation of how the asset will generate revenue, your experience operating it, the seller quote and the cash available after closing. Ask whether the proposed term leaves room for insurance, maintenance and downtime. If a larger down payment is requested, clarify whether it changes the rate, approval amount or other conditions.

Does TopMark use a soft or hard credit inquiry?

The initial review is advertised as a soft inquiry. The dealer disclosure expressly says a hard inquiry may occur at final submission and that the customer will be informed. A soft-pull prequalification should not be read as a promise that the entire transaction can never involve a hard inquiry. Ask who will access your credit and at which step.

Working-capital requirements are a separate category

The business-financing page lists six months in business and $10,000 monthly revenue. It offers business loans, lines of credit and merchant cash advance products with different payment structures. Those figures should not be imported as the eligibility rules for a truck or equipment program.

Sources: TopMark: business and working-capital products.

Documents and guarantees to confirm

TopMark’s process page lists possible bank statements, tax returns, identification and insurance documents, depending on the program. Application-only advertising does not remove equipment, seller, identity or final approval checks. Ask which owners must guarantee, whether extra collateral is required and exactly what documents remain before funding.

Trucks, trailers and heavy equipment

TopMark’s core categories include semi-trucks, box trucks, dump trucks, commercial trailers, construction machinery and waste equipment. Its website describes loans, leases and equipment finance agreements. Explore TopMark’s equipment categories.

Larger and broader equipment requests

The middle-market page includes construction, transportation, manufacturing, waste management, technology, medical and food-processing equipment. It lists financing, leasing, sale-leasebacks, capital loans and equipment lines of credit. See the middle-market program.

New or used equipment and private sellers

TopMark advertises dealer and private-seller purchases and new or used assets. Before paying a seller deposit, obtain approval for the exact machine or vehicle. Ask about age, mileage/hours, condition, title, lien releases, inspection and seller-payment requirements. A broad category listing does not mean every asset within it qualifies.

Sources: TopMark: preapproval and application process · TopMark: financing FAQ.

Where does TopMark provide financing?

TopMark markets nationwide coverage, but the reviewed pages differ: its equipment credit guide says 48 states and the middle-market page says all 50. A definitive exclusion list was not established. Confirm availability for your business state, equipment location and program rather than assuming universal coverage.

Sources: TopMark: July 2026 credit and eligibility guidance · TopMark: middle-market financing.

Choosing a financing structure

Ask whether the offer is a loan, equipment finance agreement or lease, then verify ownership during the term and at completion. If you want to keep the equipment, compare all required payments to reach ownership. If you want to return or replace it, obtain the return, renewal, notice and condition requirements. The product name alone is not a substitute for those terms.

TopMark refund policy, cancellation, early payoff and guarantees

TopMark’s public pages do not establish one refund or fee schedule for every transaction. Review the specific Letter of Intent, fee authorization and financing contract together. A preliminary approval is not the same document as a final funding commitment.

Questions about the Letter of Intent and refunds

MCA Shield questions prompted by the published complaint themes; these are not assertions about a universal TopMark policy.
Before you commitWritten answer to request
What is each upfront amount?Separate earned fees, advance installments, down payment, deposits and seller payments. Identify the recipient.
When does an amount become nonrefundable?Ask for the exact event and clause: application, approval, signed Letter of Intent, documentation or funding.
What if the offer changes?Ask what happens if the final rate, term, payment, cash requirement or guarantee differs from the initial proposal.
What if the equipment purchase fails?Ask about failed inspections, unavailable title, seller cancellation, delivery delays or choosing a replacement asset.
What if no financing closes?Request the refund calculation, any amounts retained, an itemized explanation and the expected refund timing.

Keep the written quote, signed documents, receipts and correspondence together. If a salesperson gives an explanation that differs from the documents, request a written revision or clarification before signing.

Can you pay off TopMark financing early?

The website terms say some agreements may include prepayment penalties. A universal promise of penalty-free payoff or future-interest savings was not verified. Request sample payoff amounts after months 12 and 24, showing remaining payments, any discount, fees and the amount needed to receive clear ownership.

Sources: TopMark: website terms and financing disclosures.

Personal guarantees, equipment collateral and UCC filings

TopMark’s terms acknowledge equipment collateral on some loans. Public material reviewed did not establish one personal-guarantee or UCC-filing rule for every program. Ask which people or entities guarantee the debt, whether a lien covers only the financed asset or other business assets, and how releases are handled after payoff.

Sources: TopMark: website terms and financing disclosures.

Who services the account?

Because TopMark describes different funding relationships, establish the original creditor and whether the agreement can be assigned. Ask where payments, insurance documents, payoff requests and disputes go after funding. Confirm whether your TopMark representative remains involved or whether a separate servicer becomes your contact.

Sources: TopMark: dealer program and broker disclosures.

TopMark Funding vs. Beacon Funding

Where the equipment focus differs

Beacon’s listed specialties include tow trucks, boom trucks, truck-mounted cranes, septic pumpers, embroidery and screen-printing equipment, and landscaping/light-construction assets. Those categories make it a relevant comparison for businesses whose equipment needs extend beyond freight transportation.

Sources: Beacon Funding: equipment programs.

For a tow truck or construction machine that both providers finance, send the same equipment quote and condition information to each. Ask whether approval depends on a dealer sale, asset inspection, title documentation or extra collateral. Compare the actual conditions attached to the offers rather than assuming category expertise guarantees approval.

Startup eligibility and documentation

Beacon’s startup page identifies business-plan information, credit details and the equipment request as typical application inputs. Its qualification page describes reviewing personal and business payment history, equipment condition and three months of business bank statements. New applicants should ask what substitutes are accepted when operating records are not yet available.

Sources: Beacon: startup equipment financing · Beacon: qualification factors and amounts.

For TopMark, use the equipment-specific eligibility guidance above to frame the same conversation. Ask both providers what experience, cash contribution and guarantees are needed for your particular startup. A company’s willingness to consider a startup does not establish its price or required down payment.

Compare purchase options, not just monthly payments

Beacon publishes lease-to-own choices that include a $1 buyout or a payment of 10%–20% of the original equipment price. That final amount can materially change the comparison with an ownership-focused loan or equipment finance agreement. Ask which option is actually in your proposal and whether other end-of-term requirements apply.

Sources: Beacon: lease-to-own purchase options.

Our assessment: Beacon is a useful alternative for a specialized vocational asset or a startup seeking an individually reviewed equipment request. TopMark is useful to compare where its truck-focused origination process fits the transaction. Choose between the written offers by eligibility, cash required, complete cost and ownership outcome.

TopMark Funding vs. Ascentium Capital

Funding structure and qualification visibility

Ascentium identifies its loans and leases as Regions Bank products. Its published typical equipment criteria include 650+ FICO for guarantors, two years in business, no bankruptcy in the prior ten years and an approved vendor. A related business with common ownership may provide a qualifying corporate guarantor for the business-age exception; referral options are also disclosed.

Sources: Ascentium: typical credit criteria.

Most Ascentium transactions require guarantees from people representing at least 51% ownership. Its criteria also address U.S. citizenship/permanent residence and potential consideration without personal guarantors when commercial credit or financial disclosure is stronger. Ask how those requirements apply to the owners of your business.

Sources: Ascentium: typical credit criteria.

Application-only limits need program confirmation

Ascentium’s general equipment page advertises application-only processing up to $250,000. Regions separately publishes $400,000, or $750,000 for hard assets. These are different published program statements. Ask which route applies to your asset and financial profile; neither figure establishes that further documents can never be required.

Sources: Ascentium: equipment financing and leasing · Regions: Ascentium application-only programs.

Likewise, compare TopMark’s general application-only marketing with the exact program offered rather than treating its middle-market maximum as a simplified-document approval. For larger purchases, prepare for a discussion of financial statements, existing debt, asset value and the source of repayment.

Fees, related costs and early payoff

Ascentium says it charges no application fee but collects a one-time documentation fee after approval. Its FAQ describes prorated interim billing and insurance charges if it supplies coverage. Eligible soft costs can represent up to 30% of the financed amount.

On early termination, Ascentium says there is no contractual right to prepay. For accounts not in default, it may agree to a written request and discount future payments using a present-value rate, without an additional penalty or fee. Compare the resulting dollar payoff with the actual TopMark-program terms, including any prepayment charge.

Sources: Ascentium: fees, insurance and early payoff · TopMark: website terms and financing disclosures.

Our assessment: Ascentium is particularly relevant for an established business that can compare its circumstances with published bank-program criteria. TopMark provides a different origination route worth evaluating for its equipment focus and possible exceptions. The bank affiliation or broker label alone does not establish which offer is cheaper.

TopMark application process, funding speed and contacts

  1. Request prequalification. TopMark describes an online or phone application and an initial soft credit review.
  2. Review the program with a representative. Ask for eligibility conditions, preliminary pricing and the funding entity.
  3. Select equipment and supply documents. Establish seller eligibility, insurance and any outstanding lender requirements.
  4. Review the full agreement before funding. Confirm fees, refunds, ownership and payoff terms, then obtain the actual seller-payment timeline.

The current process page advertises a preapproval window of up to 60 days. A preapproval window is not necessarily a rate lock or an unconditional commitment to fund; ask what can change while you shop.

How fast can TopMark fund?

The website advertises fast decisions and funding after documents are signed. Its general FAQ mentions many transactions completing within 24 hours after signed documents; other current marketing describes one to three business days. Treat these as company-stated examples, not a deadline guaranteed for every applicant. Ask which remaining conditions control the release of funds.
