Is National Funding a potential fit?
Worth considering: an established business with at least six months of operating history, roughly $250,000 or more in annual sales and a business bank account that wants working capital or equipment financing and can support the proposed repayment schedule.
Compare carefully: working-capital payments can be daily or weekly, a universal APR is not published, and businesses below the revenue threshold or already under pressure from frequent MCA withdrawals may need a different route first.
MCA Shield’s editorial suitability assessment based on the published qualifications, payment schedules and research limitations—not a personalized recommendation. Check requirements · Review costs · Existing MCA debt.
About this page: public-source research, not a firsthand borrowing review. MCA Shield may earn referral compensation and offers paid placements. Paid placements are labeled Sponsored; inclusion is not an endorsement. Read the research and referral disclosures.
National Funding Reviews: Trustpilot, BBB, Birdeye & BestCompany
Ratings snapshot: October 15, 2026 unless otherwise noted. Review counts change. MCA Shield does not combine these into one score.
National Funding’s review-platform results differ substantially. The most useful approach is to read the product involved, the date, the reviewer’s issue and any company response—not average unrelated platforms into a single rating.
2,212 reviews
Trustpilot’s current page shows a claimed profile, paid Trustpilot subscription and a review mix of roughly 87% five-star and 5% one-star. Positive themes include representative professionalism, speed and application help; some negative reviews mention post-approval communication and financing expectations.
12 customer reviews
The BBB customer-review score is separate from National Funding’s A+ business grade. Reviewed customer comments include marketing-contact complaints and financing-related concerns.
480 reviews in supplied research
The matched Birdeye listing displays Google-sourced reviews. Because it aggregates or displays reviews from other sources, its count should not be added to a separate Google total.
62 customer reviews in supplied research
The customer-star rating is separate from BestCompany’s editorial score. The editorial material was dated October 2022 in the research snapshot, so current product facts should come from more recent primary sources.
No numerical score assigned here
A reliable original Google Business rating and current ConsumerAffairs numerical rating were not independently established in the research package. This profile does not invent them.
Recurring National Funding review themes
| Theme | What reviewers discuss | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Application process | Positive reviews often describe a straightforward process and quick responses. | Useful for service expectations, not evidence that your pricing will be competitive. |
| Funding Specialists | Many positive Trustpilot reviews praise individual representatives. | Ask who remains responsible after funding and how servicing questions are escalated. |
| Payment expectations | Negative feedback includes confusion or dissatisfaction around payment frequency and total repayment. | Get the complete debit schedule and total repayment in writing before acceptance. |
| Marketing contacts | BBB complaints include unsolicited mail and opt-out concerns, including promotional cards that recipients believed resembled active credit cards. | Distinguish marketing complaints from actual borrower servicing complaints. |
National Funding BBB rating, accreditation & complaints
BBB’s letter grade, accreditation, customer-review average and complaint outcomes are different measures. An A+ business grade does not mean BBB customers rate the company A+.
BBB Accredited
The matched NationalFunding profile lists accreditation beginning February 14, 2013 and business operations dating to January 27, 1999.
Complaints over three years
The current BBB complaint page shows 11 complaints filed in the preceding 12 months.
Answered versus resolved
BBB categorizes 24 complaints as Answered and 4 as Resolved. An answered complaint does not necessarily mean the complainant accepted the response.
What are the National Funding complaints about?
The BBB snapshot categorizes 7 product issues, 7 service or repair issues, 5 billing issues, 5 sales and advertising issues and 4 order issues. Recent complaint narratives include unsolicited marketing, repayment-frequency confusion, financing-cost disputes and communication concerns. These are customer allegations and experiences—not MCA Shield findings that National Funding violated a law or agreement.
Marketing-mail distinction: BBB complaint responses show National Funding describing some mailed cards as promotional material rather than active credit cards or open credit lines. That distinction matters when reading complaints from people who were not financing customers.
National Funding loan requirements
National Funding publishes useful initial screening criteria, but approval and final terms depend on underwriting. Its current bad-credit financing page says there is no hard credit-score minimum; that does not mean credit is ignored.
| Requirement | Published / researched position | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Time in business | 6+ months | Meeting the minimum does not guarantee approval or the maximum amount. |
| Annual sales | $250,000+ | Equivalent to about $20,833 monthly when annualized; actual underwriting looks at cash flow. |
| Business bank account | Required | Confirm document and statement requirements for your product. |
| Personal credit | No hard minimum published on the current bad-credit page | Credit still affects eligibility and financing terms. |
| Business credit / cash flow | Considered | No universal business-credit-score cutoff was established. |
| Existing debt and liens | Considered case by case | No universal acceptance rule was established for stacked MCAs, defaults, tax liens or judgments. |
| Ownership percentage | Not publicly verified | Ask underwriting if owner-guarantor percentages apply. |
Sources: Published minimum requirements ↗ · Credit and underwriting discussion ↗.
Funding amount versus revenue: the research package notes company guidance that many qualifying businesses receive roughly 8%–12% of annual revenue. Treat that as illustrative company guidance—not a guaranteed funding formula.
National Funding business loan rates, fees & total borrowing cost
A universal current APR, factor-rate range and comprehensive fee schedule were not established from the reviewed public sources. That makes the written offer especially important.
No universal APR verified
National Funding says pricing and terms are disclosed before acceptance, but MCA Shield’s research did not establish one universal APR or factor-rate range that applies across working-capital products.
Discounts may be available
National Funding states that qualifying customers may receive early payoff discounts when they pay the balance in full and remain current and in good standing. The agreement controls the discount amount and conditions.
| Cost item | What is established | What to obtain in writing |
|---|---|---|
| APR / annualized cost | Offer required No universal current APR verified. | Your actual APR or comparable annualized cost. |
| Total repayment | Offer required Depends on the approved offer. | Net proceeds, total repayment and payment count. |
| Origination / underwriting / closing fees | Not universally verified | Every deducted and contingent fee. |
| Late / returned-payment fees | Not universally verified | Dollar amount or calculation and cure process. |
| Early payoff | Company disclosure Early payoff discounts may be available; no universal discount percentage established. | Payoff amount on the date you realistically expect to repay. |
| Equipment financing upfront cost | Advertised No upfront fees or down payment required for the advertised equipment-financing offer. | Confirm whether your specific lease/financing structure has documentation, end-of-term or other charges. |
Sources: National Funding disclosures ↗ · Equipment financing and early-payoff disclosure ↗.
Daily or weekly repayment makes total cost and cash-flow fit especially important. A smaller periodic debit does not prove lower total borrowing cost. Compare the amount deposited, total repayment, frequency, number of debits and payoff amount against competing offers for the same funding need.
National Funding loan amounts, terms & repayment frequency
Working-capital financing and equipment financing have materially different payment schedules. Do not assume monthly equipment-financing payments apply to a working-capital offer.
| Feature | Working capital | Equipment financing / leasing |
|---|---|---|
| Published amount | $6,000–$500,000 on the current homepage. | Up to $150,000. |
| Payment frequency | Daily or weekly ACH. | Monthly. |
| Published term | 4–24 months in general disclosures. | 2–5 years. |
| Collateral concept | Company describes cash-flow-based underwriting; do not infer no contractual security interest or guarantee. | The equipment generally supports the financing and may serve as collateral. |
| Funding speed | As soon as the next business day after approval and acceptance, subject to underwriting and bank processing. | Also advertised as potentially next business day. |
Sources: Homepage product terms ↗ · Equipment financing ↗.
Working-capital term discrepancy: National Funding’s general disclosures state terms of 4–24 months, while the supplied research found a product-specific bad-credit page describing shorter initial short-term limits. Treat the first-loan maximum as offer-specific and ask which disclosure governs your product.
No revolving line confirmed: MCA Shield’s research did not independently establish a currently offered National Funding revolving business line of credit. Educational pages discussing credit lines do not establish that National Funding itself currently offers one.
National Funding personal guarantees, collateral & UCC filings
Public marketing about cash-flow-based financing does not answer every contractual question. A working-capital product should not be labeled universally lien-free or guarantee-free without the actual agreement.
Working capital: cash flow is central to underwriting
National Funding’s bad-credit financing material describes cash flow as a key basis for approval. That does not establish that the signed agreement contains no personal guarantee, UCC filing or business-asset security interest.
Guarantee and UCC terms remain open
A universal personal-guarantee requirement, blanket UCC rule, filing fee, priority requirement and release procedure were not established in the research. Existing liens may affect eligibility.
Source: National Funding underwriting and collateral discussion ↗.
Get the actual documents before signing. Confirm who guarantees the obligation, what business assets are covered, whether a UCC filing will be made, how existing liens are handled, what happens after default and how any lien or guarantee is released after payoff.
National Funding vs. OnDeck vs. Bluevine: side-by-side alternatives
This comparison is designed to expose product differences—not declare a winner. National Funding working capital, an OnDeck term loan and a Bluevine partner term loan are not identical products, so compare actual offers for the same use of funds and repayment horizon.
On a phone, swipe the comparison left or right. The first column stays in place.
| Comparison point | National Funding | OnDeck | Bluevine |
|---|---|---|---|
| Product compared | Working-capital financing. | Business term loan. | Partner business term loan. |
| Published amount | $6,000–$500,000 on current homepage. | $5,000–$400,000. | Up to $500,000 through third-party lending partners. |
| Basic published screen | 6+ months; $250,000+ annual sales; business bank account; no hard credit-score minimum published. | 1+ year; $100,000+ annual revenue; 625+ personal FICO; business checking. | Partner-specific; Bluevine does not publish one universal partner-loan qualification screen. |
| Repayment | Daily or weekly; general disclosure 4–24 months. | Daily or weekly; up to 24 months. | Lump-sum partner loan, terms up to 24 months; lender-specific repayment details apply. |
| Pricing transparency | No universal current APR verified; individual written offer required. | OnDeck publishes a historical average term-loan APR; actual offers vary. | Rates and fees vary by partner; Bluevine is not the issuing lender. |
| Why compare it? | Shorter business-history screen and no hard published credit-score minimum, but higher revenue threshold and frequent repayments. | Lower published revenue threshold and clearer APR context; still frequent term-loan repayments. | Potential larger partner term financing through a platform, but lender and underwriting relationship vary. |

National Funding company overview & business identity
National Funding, Inc. is a nonbank small-business financing company based in San Diego. It markets direct lending and equipment financing while also stating that applicants it cannot fund may be matched with financing partners.
Founded in 1999
BBB dates the business start to January 27, 1999. National Funding’s website reports more than 100,000 businesses served and more than $7 billion funded. Those scale figures are company-reported, not independently audited by MCA Shield.
Direct lender with potential partner referrals
National Funding promotes direct business lending, but its current disclosures also state that if it cannot offer financing it may try to match the applicant with a partner. The actual financing provider must be identified before acceptance.
Sources: National Funding About ↗ · Direct business lending ↗.
Is National Funding legit? It has an identifiable operating history, current website and contact information, a matched BBB profile, published product disclosures and a California financing-license number on its website. Those facts establish a verifiable business identity—not guaranteed approval, affordability or suitability.
National Funding working capital, business loans & equipment financing
Product labels should be kept separate from use-of-funds categories. A business purpose such as inventory does not automatically mean a separate loan structure with unique published terms.
| Product | Published amount / term | Key distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Working-capital financing | $6,000–$500,000; general disclosures 4–24 months. | Daily or weekly ACH payments; universal APR not established. |
| Equipment financing / leasing | Up to $150,000; 2–5 years. | Monthly payments; new or used equipment; up to 100% of equipment cost advertised. |
| Short-term business funding | Offer-specific. | Product-specific term language can differ from the general 24-month working-capital maximum. |
| Inventory / receivables / bridge financing | Separate public limits not established in the research. | These appear in the product directory; confirm the actual financing structure and provider. |
| Revolving business line of credit | Not independently established as a current National Funding product. | Do not classify the company as a current LOC provider based only on educational content about credit lines. |

National Funding state availability & sales-based financing restrictions
National Funding advertises broad U.S. availability, but its own current site contains a material state-list discrepancy that should be disclosed rather than silently resolved.
Current source discrepancy: the application and direct-lending pages list sales-based-financing-only restrictions in AK, CO, MA, MN, NV, NJ, NY, ND, OK, OR, PA, RI, SD, TN and VT. Other current National Funding pages—including its About page and California page—also include Montana (MT). Confirm the current rule for your state before relying on a list.
In a restricted state, National Funding’s presence does not mean every advertised loan or equipment-financing product is available there. The exact structure of “sales-based financing” should be confirmed before classifying the resulting agreement as a loan or merchant cash advance.

National Funding application, underwriting & funding process
Online application
National Funding advertises a short online application. Exploring financing options is advertised as not affecting the applicant’s credit score.
Funding Specialist
A U.S.-based Funding Specialist contacts the applicant to discuss the business and available options.
Revenue, cash flow & credit review
Underwriting can consider revenue, time in business, cash flow, credit and existing obligations. Additional documentation may be requested.
Read the actual terms
Confirm the legal provider, amount funded, payment frequency, total repayment, fees, payoff provisions and security obligations.
Next-business-day funding advertised
Funds may arrive as soon as the next business day after approval and acceptance, subject to underwriting, required documents and bank processing.
Monitor the debit schedule
Working-capital business-product payments can be withdrawn by ACH Monday through Friday excluding bank holidays; equipment-financing payments are monthly.
Sources: National Funding direct-lending process ↗ · Funding and ACH disclosures ↗.
Partner-referral question: National Funding says it may try to match applicants with financing partners when it cannot offer financing. Confirm what information may be shared, who performs any later credit inquiry and which legal entity will fund and service the resulting agreement.
Can National Funding refinance existing merchant cash advances?
National Funding offers new business financing. The public sources reviewed do not establish a universal approval policy for businesses with one MCA, stacked MCAs, delinquent advances, defaults, collections, tax liens or judgments.
Existing debt can affect underwriting
National Funding discusses existing loans and UCC liens as factors that can complicate additional financing. Ask which existing obligations can remain and whether proceeds must pay off any balances.
Compare total payment burden
Another daily or weekly obligation can worsen cash-flow pressure even if new money is received. Compare old payments plus the proposed National Funding debit and total repayment.
Different needs: for new business funding, use the MCA Shield business-funding inquiry. If the problem is unsustainable MCA payments and restructuring or settlement, research the MCA Debt Relief Companies directory.
MCA Shield editorial analysis based on the research gaps and National Funding’s existing-debt discussion. It is not a promise that National Funding will refinance MCA debt.
National Funding licensing & selected legal record
Licensing references and court records should be described precisely. A license number published by the company is not the same as a fresh regulator-database verification, and litigation involving National Funding’s own PPP loan is not evidence about treatment of commercial-financing customers.
California Financing Law License 603A169
National Funding’s website states that loans are made or arranged pursuant to California Financing Law License 603A169. MCA Shield’s research did not complete a fresh regulator-record verification of current status.
PPP forgiveness dispute with SBA
The research identified National Funding, Inc. v. United States Small Business Administration, et al., Southern District of California case 3:24-cv-01440. A February 27, 2026 district-court ruling went against National Funding on summary judgment, and the research identified a Ninth Circuit appeal filed May 7, 2026. The final appellate disposition was not established.
Context matters: that case concerns National Funding’s own Paycheck Protection Program loan forgiveness. It should not be presented as a finding that National Funding improperly treated its commercial-financing customers.
A comprehensive federal/state enforcement and licensing inventory was not completed. Do not convert “not found in this research” into “none exist.”
National Funding reviews, BBB, requirements, rates & financing FAQs
What is National Funding’s BBB rating?
The matched BBB profile shows an A+ business grade and accreditation. The 1.0/5 BBB customer-review average is a separate measure. See the dated BBB details.
How many National Funding BBB complaints are there?
The current BBB page retrieved for this profile shows 28 complaints over three years and 11 filed in the preceding 12 months. Complaint counts change. Review the complaint breakdown.
Is National Funding legit?
National Funding has an identifiable operating history dating to 1999, a current website, a matched BBB profile and public financing disclosures. That establishes a verifiable company identity, not a guarantee that an offer will be affordable or suitable.
What are National Funding’s loan requirements?
The published initial screen includes at least six months in business, $250,000 in annual sales and a business bank account. The current bad-credit page says there is no hard credit-score minimum, but credit still affects eligibility and terms. See the requirements table.
What interest rate or APR does National Funding charge?
A universal current APR or factor-rate range was not established in MCA Shield’s research. Obtain the actual annualized cost, total repayment and fees in writing. See the cost section.
Does National Funding require daily payments?
Working-capital payments can be daily or weekly. Equipment-financing payments are advertised as monthly. Your specific agreement controls the schedule. Compare the product structures.
Does National Funding charge a prepayment penalty?
The company advertises potential early payoff discounts for qualifying customers who pay in full and remain current and in good standing. The research did not establish one universal discount percentage or payoff formula. Obtain a dated payoff illustration.
Does National Funding require a personal guarantee or UCC filing?
A universal current guarantee or UCC policy was not established. Cash-flow-based underwriting should not be interpreted as proof that every agreement is guarantee-free or lien-free. See the contract questions.
Does National Funding offer a business line of credit?
A currently available revolving National Funding business line of credit was not independently established in this research. The profile therefore does not classify it as a verified revolving credit-line product.
Can National Funding refinance MCA debt?
No universal policy was established for stacked, delinquent or defaulted merchant cash advances. Ask whether existing obligations and UCC filings affect approval and whether proceeds must pay off specific balances. See the MCA section.
Does National Funding lend in every state?
National Funding advertises broad U.S. availability, but certain states are limited to sales-based financing and current National Funding pages conflict over whether Montana is in that restricted list. See the state-disclosure note.
Who receives the MCA Shield funding inquiry?
MCA Shield receives it—not National Funding. The form is not a National Funding application and does not guarantee a referral to National Funding, approval, rate or funding amount.
About the author, research & source limitations
This is a public-source company profile, not firsthand borrowing experience, an individualized recommendation or a professional review of a reader’s financing agreement.
How this profile was researched
The profile uses National Funding’s current website for advertised product terms, eligibility, funding timing and disclosures; BBB for accreditation, customer reviews and complaint records; Trustpilot and the supplied research for independent review snapshots; and the supplied legal research for the selected PPP litigation context.
A supplemental October 15 check confirmed current homepage ranges, equipment-financing terms, the no-hard-minimum credit statement, BBB complaint counts and the current Trustpilot count. It also found a discrepancy among National Funding’s own current pages over whether Montana is included in the sales-based-financing-only state list; the profile discloses that conflict instead of silently choosing one version.
What remains unverified or offer-specific
The actual APR, factor rate, total repayment, origination/underwriting/closing fees, late and returned-payment charges, first-loan maximum term under every product, universal personal-guarantee requirement, blanket UCC policy, lien-release process, ownership minimum, average bank-balance requirement and full MCA underwriting policy require further verification or an individual offer.
A current original Google Business rating, current ConsumerAffairs numerical rating, complete executive roster, exhaustive state-license inventory, comprehensive enforcement history and final appellate disposition of the selected PPP case were not established. Missing information is not treated as zero fees, no obligation or unrestricted eligibility.
Research and commercial relationships
MCA Shield may earn compensation for referrals to selected partners and offers sponsored directory placement opportunities. Paid placements are labeled Sponsored. Inclusion, placement and third-party ratings are not a ranking of suitability or a guarantee of results. The inquiry form contacts MCA Shield; financing providers determine their own eligibility and contract terms.
Review allegations are not treated as proven violations, and ratings are not averaged. This page is educational research, not legal, tax or individualized financial advice. To request a factual correction, contact MCA Shield with the statement and supporting source.
